What is the Paper Money Gallery?
 

This is a place where excellent paper money collections are displayed at the request and courtesy of their owners. Collections are organized according to type and scope with each having their own dedicated section on this website.

 

Who can start a gallery?

The Paper Money Gallery is currently only open to members of the Paper Money Forum.
 

How does the Paper Money Gallery work?
 
The Paper Money Gallery will host your collection ONLY at your request. Full permission MUST be granted in order to have your collection hosted. Once you agree to allow Paper Money Gallery to host your collection by filling out and returning one of our Terms of Service Forms, you may post scans of your notes, preferable against a dark background, to the designated area of the Paper Money Forum. Paper Money Gallery will re-size and crop them to a format that will fit on the page. You will need to indicate how you want them organized at the time you submit the scans on the Paper Money Forum.
 

How is a collection named?
 
The Paper Money Gallery only posts the name of the collection, which may be your Paper Money Forum username or a collection name that you choose.
 

How long does the collection remain on the Paper Money Gallery?
 
As long as you wish. That said, the Paper Money Gallery reserves the right to decline to host a collection for any reason. The Paper Money Gallery also reserves the right to remove a collection at any time. The notes you submit to be hosted MUST be your collection at the time of submission. If a dispute arises with another collection and it is believed that the notes belong to another collector, the Paper Money Gallery may remove the disputed note or the entire collection. A collector may also request to remove a note or collection from the Paper Money Gallery at any time. If a note is sold to another collector, it is courteous to remove it from your active collection gallery.
 

If I sell my collection, does my collection gallery have to be removed?
 
Generally, it is requested that you do so as a courtesy to other collectors. However, you may request to have your collection archived. These archived collections are not active but may be seen for future collectors or even to establish a pedigree.
 

What is the purpose of the Paper Money Gallery?
 
Ultimately, the purpose of the Paper Money Gallery is to promote the hobby and to help educate newcomers and advanced collectors alike. The collections posted here are for the enjoyment of the collectors. The Paper Money Gallery does not assess or assign the value of or facilitate the sale of a note or collection. If you are seeking information on the value of a piece of paper money, you should consult a dealer for professional advice.

 


HOW COLLECTIONS ARE ORGANIZED

STRUCTURE

 

Collections are organized in three units: Collections, Groups and Sets.

 

Collections

Collections are the sum total of all Groups and Sets within a specific Currency Gallery.
 
 

 

Groups

Groups are units which contain all the Sets of a given definition. They form containers, which are stacked on a Collection page.
 
 

 

Sets

Sets are the individual sub-units of notes of a very specific definition, noted by placement in rows within a given currency Group.
 
 

 

TYPES

 

There are eight main types of collection organization settings here on the Paper Money Gallery. Here is a basic description of each.

 

All Varieties, All Grades

These collections display every varieties of a given note class and denomination, including signature combinations (U.S. large size and world currency), block letter varieties, seal color varieties, mule varieties as well as major plate number and error varieties. Notes in all grades are accepted.
 
 

Most Varieties, All Grades

These collections display most varieties of a given note class and denomination, including signature combinations (U.S. large size and world currency), block letter varieties, seal color varieties and mule varieties. Notes in all grades are accepted.
 
 

No Varieties, All Grades

These collections display no varieties of a given note class and denomination, other than the most basic distinctions such as districts on Federal Reserve Notes, block letters on Silver Certificates and United States Notes. Notes in all grades are accepted.
 
 

Specific Varieties, All Grades

These collections display a specific variety of a given note class and denomination, other than the most basic distinctions such as districts on Federal Reserve Notes, block letters on Silver Certificates and United States Notes. Notes in all grades are accepted.
 
 

All Varieties, Uncirculated Only

These collections display every varieties of a given note class and denomination, including signature combinations (U.S. large size and world currency), block letter varieties, seal color varieties, mule varieties as well as major plate number and error varieties. Only notes in uncirculated grades are accepted.
 
 

Most Varieties, Uncirculated Only

These collections display most varieties of a given note class and denomination, including signature combinations (U.S. large size and world currency), block letter varieties, seal color varieties and mule varieties. Only notes in uncirculated grades are accepted.
 
 

No Varieties, Uncirculated Only

These collections display no varieties of a given note class and denomination, other than the most basic distinctions such as districts on Federal Reserve Notes, block letters on Silver Certificates and United States Notes. Only notes in uncirculated grades are accepted.
 
 

Specific Varieties, Uncirculated Only

These collections display a specific variety of a given note class and denomination, other than the most basic distinctions such as districts on Federal Reserve Notes, block letters on Silver Certificates and United States Notes. Only notes in uncirculated grades are accepted.
 
 
In addition to these eight types of collections, the Paper Money Gallery will assist collectors in building custom collections with mixtures of denominations, classes, varieties, etc.
 

Collection Status Updates

 

Under Construction

A collection with this symbol is under initial construction. This symbol will disappear once the construction is complete.


 

Scheduled Update

A collection with this symbol is scheduled for a future update. This symbol will disappear once the update is complete.


 

Possible Error

A collection with this symbol has been flagged for a potential error in the listings. This symbol will disappear once the error is resolved.


 

Eligible for Award

A collection with this symbol is eligible for an award. This symbol will disappear once the award process is complete.
